Austria

Kaiserschmarrn at a mountain hut, a dip in an alpine lake and peaks rising to almost 3,800 metres: Austria is the land of mountains, and you'll feel it on every trail. Between the Grossglockner, the Wachau valley and Vienna, alpine meadows, vineyard terraces and coffee houses change almost by the hour. If you want to fall asleep under the open sky after a day outdoors, your bubble tent in Austria is waiting, with its own hot tub and so much peace and quiet you can almost hear the stars.

Hiking: Adlerweg, Alpe-Adria-Trail and Zillertal

The Adlerweg (Eagle Walk) is more than 400 kilometres long and crosses Tyrol in 33 stages. The Alpe-Adria-Trail connects the Grossglockner with the Adriatic over around 750 kilometres. For day trips, hut hikes are ideal, such as the one to the Olperer Hut in the Zillertal, with views of the Schlegeis reservoir.

Lakes: Achensee, Lake Hallstatt and Wörthersee

The Achensee is the largest lake in Tyrol and is also known as the “Tyrolean Sea”. On Lake Hallstatt lies the picture-book village of Hallstatt, part of the Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut UNESCO World Heritage Site. For swimming, head to the Wörthersee in Carinthia, one of the warmest alpine lakes, reaching over 25 degrees in summer.

Waterfalls and gorges: Krimml, Stuibenfall and Liechtensteinklamm

The Krimml Waterfalls in the Salzburger Land plunge 380 metres in three tiers and are the highest in Austria. At 159 metres, the Stuibenfall in the Ötztal is the highest waterfall in Tyrol. In the Liechtensteinklamm gorge near St. Johann im Pongau, walkways lead between rock faces up to 300 metres high.

Panorama: Grossglockner, Dachstein and Highline 179

Since 1935, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road has wound its way through 36 hairpin bends up to the Edelweissspitze at 2,571 metres. On the Dachstein, Austria's highest suspension bridge leads at around 2,700 metres to the “Stairway to Nothingness”. Near Reutte, the 406-metre Highline 179 spans the valley at a height of 114 metres.

Huts and food: Kaiserschmarrn, Kasnudeln and Wachau

Kaiserschmarrn tastes best at an alpine hut after a hike, and in Carinthia Kasnudeln are on every menu. In the Wachau on the Danube, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000, apricots and Grüner Veltliner ripen on steep terraces, not far from our bubble tent in Lower Austria.

What's actually behind Book a Bubble?

In short: a bubble tent is a transparent tent in the middle of nature. You lie warm and sheltered in bed and fall asleep right under the starry sky.

Hand-picked locations

We don't just pick any old patch of meadow. Every location is hand-picked – for real privacy, a clear view of the sky and a kind of peace that's hard to find.

Individuality

No two bubble tents are alike. Every host adds their own personal touch – from a view of the lake to a bonfire in the middle of the forest.
