North Rhine-Westphalia

Altbier in Düsseldorf, industrial heritage in the Ruhr and tranquil reservoirs in the Sauerland: in NRW, city and nature are often less than an hour apart. By day you hike the Rothaarsteig trail, jump into a swimming lake or marvel at the Zollverein colliery. And if you'd rather spend the night under the stars than in a hotel room, our bubble tents in North Rhine-Westphalia are waiting for you, some with their own hot tub and always with peace and quiet instead of city noise.

Hiking: Rothaarsteig, Sauerland-Höhenflug and Neanderland Steig

The Rothaarsteig runs for around 157 kilometres from Brilon to Dillenburg across the heights of the Sauerland, passing the Langenberg, the highest point in NRW. The Sauerland-Höhenflug links Altena and Korbach over 194 kilometres. Close to Düsseldorf, the Neanderland Steig circles the district of Mettmann over 241 kilometres.

Lakes: Möhnesee, Biggesee and Kaarster See

The Möhne Dam, built in 1913, holds back a 9-kilometre lake covering a good 10 square kilometres, not far from your bubble tent in Welver. Further south lies the Biggesee, the second-largest reservoir in NRW. And near Düsseldorf, the Kaarster See is just a few minutes' walk from the bubble tent.

Natural wonders: Eifel National Park, Externsteine and Drachenfels

Founded in 2004 as NRW's first national park, the Eifel National Park protects around 10,770 hectares of forest and water. In the Teutoburg Forest, the Externsteine rocks rise up to 48 metres high, and since 1883 Germany's oldest cogwheel railway has climbed the Drachenfels in the Siebengebirge.

Industrial heritage and cathedral: Zollverein, Duisburg-Nord and Cologne

The Zollverein colliery in Essen has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, and its Shaft XII is known as the “Eiffel Tower of the Ruhr”. At the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, you can climb through a disused ironworks that lights up in colour at night. And at 157 metres, Cologne Cathedral is one of the tallest churches in the world.

Cities and food: Düsseldorf, Soest and Altbier

Düsseldorf's Old Town calls itself the “longest bar in the world”: around 260 pubs, restaurants and bars in half a square kilometre, plus Altbier and the Rhine promenade. In Soest, twelve kilometres from Welver, churches of green sandstone glow, and Germany's oldest pumpernickel bakery is based here.

What's actually behind Book a Bubble?

In short: a bubble tent is a transparent tent in the middle of nature. You lie warm and sheltered in bed and fall asleep right under the starry sky.

Hand-picked locations

We don't just pick any old patch of meadow. Every location is hand-picked – for real privacy, a clear view of the sky and a kind of peace that's hard to find.

Individuality

No two bubble tents are alike. Every host adds their own personal touch – from a view of the lake to a bonfire in the middle of the forest.
