A Franzbrötchen in the morning, harbour air at the Landungsbrücken at noon and out into the countryside in the evening: around Hamburg you'll find quiet nature reserves, the lakes of Holstein Switzerland and the Baltic coast from Timmendorf to Travemünde. If you want to get away without going on a full holiday, our bubble tents in and around Hamburg are just a short trip from the city. A bed surrounded by greenery, a telescope for the starry sky and birdsong instead of traffic noise.
In September, red deer bellow in the Duvenstedter Brook nature reserve, and cranes have been breeding here since 1980. In the same village as your bubble tents lies the 18th-century Jersbek Baroque Garden with its lime tree avenue, around 800 metres long. The Alster hiking trail runs for 37 kilometres into the city.
Around 200 lakes lie in the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park, including the Großer Plöner See, the largest lake in Schleswig-Holstein. The 5-Seen-Fahrt (Five Lakes Cruise) connects Dieksee, Langensee, Behlersee, Höftsee and Edebergsee between Malente and Plön in around two hours. Plön itself is surrounded by 17 lakes.
Timmendorfer Strand and Scharbeutz on the Bay of Lübeck each have around 6.5 kilometres of sandy beach with beach chairs and a pier. In Travemünde, a seaside resort since 1802, the four-masted barque Passat lies in the harbour. You'll sleep even closer to the water at our Bubble Tent Ostsee in Angeln near Flensburg.
The Speicherstadt is the largest historic warehouse complex in the world and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015, with the Miniatur Wunderland right in the middle. From the Plaza of the Elbphilharmonie, 37 metres up, you look out over the harbour. With a regular HVV ticket, you can take a harbour ferry all the way to the Elbe beach at Övelgönne.
Lübeck's Old Town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Through the Holstentor, built from 1464, you enter a city of Brick Gothic architecture with hidden passageways and courtyards. Afterwards, treat yourself to marzipan at Niederegger, at home on Breite Straße since 1806.
